Dance video based on the eponymous 1999 performance, shot in the atmospheric surroundings of a racetrack in Brussels (BE), the beautiful ballroom- concert hall of the Vooruit Arts Centre in Ghent (BE), the streets of Ferrara (IT) and in Singapore.
In Spite of Wishing and Wanting reunites the rhythms of Talking Heads cofounder David Byrne and Wim Vandekeybus’ scenic eclecticism: humorous theatrical sequences, energetic and powerful dance and a diversity of bodies within an all-male cast. Wim Vandekeybus himself trots in as a wild horse between the ten dancers-actors, devastated by their passionate desires.
